Fire Safety & Hazardous Materials Permits Supplemental Billing
On July 1, 2007 the City of San José Fire Safety and Hazardous Material fees were increased by 7.6%. The invoices received in September 2007 did not include that increase. The Fire Safety & Hazardous Material Fee Program is required to be 100% cost-recovery in order to continue processing of permits; the fees must cover all costs associated with the program. The fee-increase was initiated to bring the program into cost-recovery compliance; for this reason all outstanding fees must be collected. We issued a supplemental bill for the additional 7.6% that should have been included on the September original invoice. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
If you have received a supplemental bill for a September invoice, this outstanding balance is due within 30 days to prevent voiding of your permit. If you have further questions regarding the fee increase or the billing process, you may contact the Bureau of Fire Prevention either by email SJFD.Billing@sanjoseca.gov or by phone at 408-277-5323. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this supplemental billing may have caused.
