The number following the abbreviation identifies the home station.
Notes:
A fiscal year starts on July 1 and ends June 30 the following year.
"By Station" refers to each individual fire station. There are 31 in San Jose. Station 99 lists calls where the San Jose Fire Department responded outside the city.
"By Company" refers to each piece of primary fire apparatus. A company consists of a Fire Captain, the crew and their apparatus...either a fire engine, fire truck or USAR. Sometimes a secondary support vehicle responds with the primary apparatus, and together they comprise the company.
Battlion Chiefs are not a 'company' but are listed in the company responses for comparison. Battalion Chiefs supervise the captains of all fire crews working in one of 5 battalion areas of the city.
A fire station may house more than one company. Every San Jose fire station has one engine company; some also have either a truck or U.S.A.R. (Urban Search and Rescue) company.
Auto Aid and Mutual Aid are response agreements among different fire jurisdictions to assist each other...either automatically or on request.
A TIER (Tactically Integrated Emergency Response) is a wildland response used for fighting vegetation fires. A Tier 2 is similar to a 2nd Alarm response for structures but a different mix of fire apparatus is dispatched, including off-road vehicles.
