SJFD Introduces new lifesaving CPR mobile phone app to the San Jose community

 


PulsePointIn conjunction with Valentine’s Day, San José community leaders are launching PulsePoint, a free cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) “citizen first responder” mobile phone application (app). This new app is designed to help CPR-trained users in the San José Fire Department service area provide life-saving assistance to victims of sudden cardiac arrest. Special Advisory -- Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Prevention Act

 


Smoke DetectorThe Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Prevention Act (Senate Bill – SB 183) will require all single-family homes with an attached garage or a fossil fuel source to install carbon monoxide alarms within the home by July 1, 2011. Owners of multi-family leased or rental dwellings, such as apartment buildings, have until January 1, 2013 to comply with the law. Please read this Advisory (.pdf 71kb) for more information.


 

AlertSCC -- Register to receive important emergency information

 


The City of San Jose is participating in a new Countywide Emergency Notification System that will provide timely and possibly lifesaving information to registered residents. The system will be used to provide emergency alerts in San Jose and/or Santa Clara County. Land line phones for home and business are already in the system. You’ll need to register External Site to receive emergency alerts on your cell phone, PDA, or device for the hearing impaired.
